New Registration Fee: $1 Per Entry
Beginning with the DV-2027 cycle, the U.S. Department of State will charge a non-refundable $1 fee per online registration.
This change was finalized in September 2025 under a new federal rule.
The fee will be paid electronically during the online entry process via a secure U.S. government payment portal.
Education or Work Requirement
Applicants must meet one of the following:

Completed high school education (or equivalent), or

Have two years of work experience within the past five years in an occupation requiring at least two years of training.
These requirements are verified only after selection.
Eligibility Criteria
The DV Lottery is open to individuals born in countries with low immigration rates to the U.S. over the past five years.
Eligible Regions Typically Include:

Many countries in Asia (excluding high-immigration nations)

Nations in Oceania and parts of the Americas
Countries commonly ineligible in recent years have included:
India, China, Mexico, Philippines , Pakistan , Canada, Bangladesh
This new $1 fee aims to reduce fraudulent and duplicate entries. Make sure you use only verified information and apply early once the portal opens.
